Job Description
The Director of Sales, Residential -East is responsible for developing and achieving the Objectives, Goals, Strategies and Measures for their region, direct sales team and distributors. They must develop and maintain strategic relationships with distributor principals, as well as support their Regional Business Managers in the creation and execution of annual business plans. The Director of Sales will set short and long-term sales strategies and evaluate effectiveness of current sales programs. The Director of Sales must be focused on developing their team as potential future leaders for the organization, must be strong willed, passionate about the business, team, and customers, and demonstrate a strong desire to drive results for the organization.
  • Assume leadership, managerial, and coaching responsibilities
  • Work closely with VP Sales and Distribution to achieve annual/quarterly sales budgets, market share, gross margin and key account growth targets
  • Develop and maintain strategic relationships with distributor principals and key customers
  • Mutually develop annual business plans and quarterly reviews with distributors; support and coach Regional Business Managers in tracking and measuring performance to insure that both customer objectives and corporate objectives are being met
  • Create and implement sales tools to help team members meet sales objectives for region
  • Identify and analyze regional business trends; actively participate in Product Development and Product Marketing reviews to ensure alignment with internal and external (customer) strategic objectives
  • Develop a high performance sales team based on accountability of results
  • Organize quarterly “field visits” with all Regional Business Managers and Territory Sales Representatives
  • Develop regional product launch plans and exceed launch objectives (sales, % distribution)
  • Manage all relative budgets including individual and regional expenses
  • Report on key sales/margin components (Distribution, Product Mix, Customer Mix, Promotional Participation, Retailer Program, New Retailer targets)
  • Conduct quarterly business reviews with RBMs
  • Perform all related job functions as set forth by VP, Sales Distribution NA
Key skills / Skills Required
  • Bachelor’s Degree from a 4-year college or university
  • Minimum of 10 years sales experience
  • National account or sales team leadership responsibility experience preferred
  • Strong Leadership skills; capable of leading, managing and challenging others
  • Able to develop business insights via thorough analysis
  • Able to train others on successful selling practices and work effectiveness
  • Experience in developing sales plans, budgets, and forecasting
  • Working knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint and MS Word
  • Overnight travel is required (50% - 60%)
